2012 Projects

Year 2012 KNW have still been concentrating in helping set up other Neighbourhood Watch groups in and around the Soho Ward and Handsworth.

We are also setting up work shops alongside the police to show people how simple it is to set up a Neighbourhood Watch and to join the Scheme.

If you want to set up a neighbourhood Watch get in contact with us, our long term goal is to start a Neighbourhood Watch Forum in the area for the Leaders to come and share their good and bad things and to support each other!!!

Please read covering letter for petition This Petition will be handed in to ward committee on the 27th March 2012 and we will insist that this remains on the Outstanding Minutes List until it has been resolved to residents satisfaction.

From the being of the year the KNW has been campaign for double yellow line on the both side of the road out side Brookfield School on Hingeston Street to keep our children safe, Over 800 people singed a petition which says.

We are happy about the public notices but we still want the double yellow lines.

That’s great News we have done it

Good news we have finally got what we wanted in the area for the safety of the children of Brookfield school.

Now it is up to the local authority and the police to enforce the double yellow linesand we hope that all the general public especially the parents od Brookfield school obey these restrictions.

If the parents have to come by car to pick and drop off their children the residents of Knightstone Avenue and Newspring Street do not mind the Parents using our street for this purpose.

Play ground for our kids

KNW working hard again for you, We worked hard along side the BCC parks department to put in some new swings for our little ones after residents kept on saying the small children in the park need some swing at long last we have them.

we also ask for the grass to be flatter than it was on the Knightstone Avenue side and they did that has well.

Lamp Post Upgrades

The KNW has been campaigning for the past 2 years now to receive lamp post upgrades. Through the hard work and the constant campaigning Knightstone Avenue and Hingeston Street as been upgraded to the 2012 specifications.

BCC as five years to upgrade all lamp posts within Birmingham, Capestone Avenue and Pitsford Street are due to be upgraded in 2013,

They look great don’t they

They look great in the dark, No more members being a fared of the dark and late nights! , these lamp post lights show up about 4-5 times has much of the old ones we have to THANKS BCC

Because of the some members from Capestone Avenue have complained about the alley way at the rear of their homes we reported this alley way and requested it to be gated not just for our members of Capestone Avenue but for those on Clissold and Pitsford Street as well.

We are pleased that the HLB and Community Chest fund have now paid for and placed a brand new gate , but we will also we will be keeping an eye on the residents in this area allowing people to fly tip in this alley way.

There as been evidence of fly tipping recently, sooner or later BCC will start fining who has keys for that fly tipping and that will not be fair.

Good Strong Gate Residents of clissold/ Capestone Avenue and Pitsford Street should be pleased / Please keep these gates Locked at all times

Hi Guys 

Yet again another really successful event was held on Saturday 30^th June 2012; the only difference in this event was that the KNW worked in partnership to host this event with our local partners Tesco Springhill and Waterloo Housing Association.

 

Throughout the day of the event we had over 1,760 people and 40 minutes before the Olympic torch bearer was due to arrive we must have had over 5,000 spectators.

Can we take this opportunity to thank every partner who done a stall and a big thank you to the stall holders who was making a profit on the day as they donated 20% of their profits to the hosts charity which is Cancer research and we managed to raise £125 just by donations.
